TMR Prestige Services are a family run business, located in Stoke Mandeville Buckinghamshire, consisting of a father & son team, Terry & Ryan Devine who set the business up in October 2014. We like our customers to know who they are doing business with as we believe people buy from people, so below is our story of how we originally started to where we are now & what’s happened along the way.
Previously to setting TMR up, we helped out on the weekends at a friend’s local dealership for years assisting him in sales & valeting the cars. Most weekends we would sell a number of cars & started to think this is something we could do ourselves. At the time, Terry was a serving Police Officer at Thames Valley Police which he joined in 1988. Ryan started helping from the age of 12 & worked there until the age of 17, in which time he had sold a number of cars & confirmed to him that this is the job he’d like to pursue as a career.
At the start of 2014, due to his full time work commitments, Terry took a back seat from the weekend sales & Ryan took over helping out more at the dealership. At this time, he was soon to finish 6th form where he’d been studying business studies for 2 years. In the May of 2014, Ryan had finished 6th form & that’s when it was decided for us to go alone & set our own business up.
It took the next few months to get everything sorted which we needed & in the October of 2014, we had officially started our own business. We originally started working from home in Great Missenden due to the lower overheads & because of the location having a large plot of land; we were able to park our stock there. Our dining room was converted to our home office & we were ready to go! Initially we had a small amount of stock but over the next few years grew to have up to 10 at any one time. Working from home was very enjoyable for many reasons, but customers also felt very relaxed because they weren’t arriving at a large intimidating forecourt or a backstreet unit which made the whole buying process an enjoyable one for everybody.
The business was mainly run by Ryan day to day full time from 2014 until April 2018 when Terry retired from the police force after a fantastic 30 year career. Terry then joined in the day to day running & that is how the business has continued since then.
In December 2019, we decided that although working from home had its benefits, for us to grow the business more to what we wanted it to be, the next step would be to move to a forecourt locally & start trading from there. After a few weeks of searching & through nothing but luck, we came across a perfect premises located in Stoke Mandeville. We viewed it, immediately said yes & took hold of the keys in the middle of December 2019. We had a wooden office purpose built & then started to fill our new site with our handpicked stock.
As of 2020, we are now fully running from our new site on Lower Road Stoke Mandeville & couldn’t be happier. We have space for up to 20 cars in stock, located opposite the Stoke Mandeville Auto Centre who we use for our MOT’s, 1 minute drive away from our valeting bay & other business we use on a day to day basis. Location wise its perfect for us & on one of the busiest roads going into Aylesbury.
From the start, our aim has always been to supply low mileage, well cared for cars that we would happily purchase if we were the customer & in a manner of how we’d personally want to buy a car. No pushy sales tactics or the usual car dealer talk. All of our cars are purchased directly from their owners, never out of auctions. We prefer this way of buying our stock as it allows us to carefully inspect them and make sure they are right for our customers. The cars on our forecourt are all owned by ourselves which we feel shows our confidence in each one due to investing our own money into them.
We pride ourselves on being able to supply a range of cars and are able to source particular vehicles for our customers. All cars come complete with Clear MotorCheck Reports, MOT's, Full Service History, 3-36 Month Warranty and Full Valet. We work on an appointment only basis which allows us to give our customers ample time to relax and enjoy viewing our handpicked stock.
